Electing to have cosmetic surgery is a major step that requires a great deal of thought and research on your part before moving forward with the procedure. One of the most important decisions in the entire process, but one which, surprisingly enough, is overlooked by many prospective patients, is choosing which doctor to entrust your body to. While there are of course many variables involved in doctor selection, including experience, bedside manner, location, and fees, there is also one overriding constant: you should always choose a board certified plastic surgeon. IÂve always been a pragmatic sort of chap. I mean, when I was younger, I had severe asthma. I couldnÂt run around or even play around like the other kids. But it didnÂt bother me much. I amused myself by becoming an introvert and by reading books. Of course it meant that I didnÂt have many friends, but then hey! I built up knowledge while managing to stay positive. In my teens, I was known as pimple king. With a hideous visage, filled with acne, black heads and white heads of all sizes and shapes, people (not just girls!) avoided me like the plague. Although I tried all sorts of cures, nothing really worked. So I bided my time and tried to be as normal as possible till my acne went right away. See more ...

My brother-in-law decided to have lasik eye surgery last year. I was the lucky, unemployed relative who was volunteered to drive him to and from his appointment for the laser eye surgery. This was not too much of an ordeal, but I am a person who cant stand the idea of contact lenses in my eyes, let alone lasers in them. Ironically, my brother-in-law is queasy about contact lenses as well. This is why he opted for the lasik procedure. See more ...

My 42 plasma tv is practically the best that money can buy. I use my 42 plasma tv to watch everything, including football games, live war coverage on cnn, the 6 o clock news, and anything else that you can think of. One of the best parts of having a 42 plasma tv is the realism of watching it  it's like you're actually there in the heat, making tackles and calling plays, or maybe involved in a steamy romance on a soap opera, or launching cruise missles at the enemies of freedom all around the world. Glasses are a strange thing. There is so much lore about them. The same glasses that make one guy look like a complete nerd, might make a buddy holly famous. Some people love their glasses, but I hated mine when I was growing up. People would call me the usual: four eyes, as if that were original. My parents wouldn't buy me contacts. My dad thought that lenses were good enough for him, that they'd be good enough for me too. You can bet all that changed when I got to college. See more ...

They want you to think that, before undergoing major cosmetic surgery, it is enough to talk with a board certified plastic surgeon about the benefits and risks of the procedure you are undergoing. It is not. At the very least you should talk to your family and close friends. You should probably see a psychiatrist as well. Although a board certified plastic surgeon knows more than any of these people about surgery, he will know much less than your close friends, or your medical health care provider, about what effect such a procedure is likely to have on you. Adolescents and adults with severe drug and alcohol issues may require an extended stay at residential treatment facilities to get the individualized intense therapy they need to get well. These facilities are located across the nation and specialize in treating the issues associated with drug and alcohol addiction. Patients are prime candidates for residential treatment if current out-patient approaches are not working. Residential treatment facilities provide psychiatric evaluation, medication administration if needed, intense individual and group therapy sessions, and family counseling and activities that will ultimately lead to a successful outcome. Patients become residents and must learn to function by performing certain daily tasks, such as meal preparation and cleanings. Residential treatment facilities for the mentally ill are similar but slightly different in that they provide both acute inpatient and more permanent long-term care. These patients usually do not have any drug or alcohol issues, but require closer supervision and acute psychotherapy, as well as medication management. See more ...

Why do our looks play such an important role in our lives? Our appearances seem to always relate so strongly back to our self-esteem. How do we evolve away from this superficial norm? Well, with the media-hyped, "beauty rules" society we all inhabit, it may be a little difficult. This is why there is such a powerful focus on staying beautiful as long as we possibly can. While this may mean a medicine cabinet full of wrinkle creams and daily outings to the local gym, it can also mean consulting a professional. A major concern that's simply as old as time is hair loss for men. We all fret the day when our ever-powerful dews will fail us and plummet to our shower drains. Although hair loss for men is inevitable for many, it can be battled every step of the way. See more ...

Until recent years, the idea of seeing an eye surgeon for anything other than unique vision problems, injuries or conditions rarely crossed our minds. More standard vision problems were generally corrected with glasses or contact lenses. If you or someone you know has a drug or alcohol problem, then possibly a stay at chemical dependency treatment center is needed. Many peoples lives have become totally unmanageable due to addictions to drugs and alcohol. The phrase sick and tired of being sick and tired is very true; people that seek treatment on their own advice, do so because they are completely sick and tired of the whole thing. Others simply never make it to this point. They may feel that way at times when they are at rock bottom, but soon forget once they are high again. Eventually these people may end up in chemical dependency treatment centers due to a court order, losing their job, or family intervention. Industrial robots have an amazing number of specialized hands that can be used in a
wide variety of jobs. They can pick heavy things up, or manipulate the most delicate
of microchips. They can drill holes, operate spray painters, and tighten bolts. Even
with all their capability, robotic hands are simple when compared to an artificial
human hand. Robots do one job over and over. On the other hand, Humans use their
hands to do many different jobs. Robotic hands can be arbitrarily heavy since the
robots don't get tired. Heavy prosthetics can be extremely uncomfortable and cause
injury to the area where it joins with the arm. The human hand has 27 bones and can
make a number of complex movements and actions. Robots working in industry need only
the relatively limited motions dictated by their specific job so they can only
clutch something in a single type of grip. Robotic hands, once they have grasped an
object, don't let go until they are told to do so. A human using a real hand to
grasp something simply involks the 'keep holding until I tell you to do something
else' behavior in their subconscious, so that a human using his real hand can walk
and hold a cup of coffee at the same time. By contrast an advanced artificial hand
requires much more conscious attention from the user to make sure the object isn't
dropped. See more ...

In recent times, drug abuse treatment has become steadily more popular. Today there are many different avenues someone interested in quitting an addiction can explore. Therapy, support groups (ie; 12 step meetings), outpatient services, sober living environments, and residential treatment facilities are some examples. The last two examples are the more intensive forms of treatment. A sober living environment is not in itself a treatment, but will certainly improve the odds of success with any other treatments you try. A good starting point is a residential treatment facility, and everything should be looked at as resources to use once you are out. See more ...

I hate to admit it, but I used to be one of those people who took my eyesight for granted. I never went to the optometrist for regular checkups, I didn't always wear sunglasses to protect against UV rays, and I would often sit in front of my computer or television for hours on end, which usually led to a severe case of eyestrain. Then, perhaps not unexpectedly, my vision began to deteriorate. As I got older, it took longer and longer for distant objects to come into focus. I realized I needed glasses or contacts, so I finally went to see a doctor. After dealing with lost glasses and all the hassles that come with using contacts, I decided to check out laser eye surgery. Boy, am I glad that I did! See more ...

IÂve been getting more and more interested in the idea of laser eye surgery. I was dating a nurse a few months ago whoÂd had it done, and she had the most amazing vision in anyone IÂd ever met. WeÂd be driving along, and while I was struggling to read the street names on the signs coming up, sheÂd be calling off names from signs two or three blocks down with no problem. With all of the daily chores we strive to complete, we often don't take into account our health and senses. We sit in a cubicle typing away, only to discover that we've developed a problem with our hands or eyes. We expose ourselves to simple things, but don't typically anticipate the aftermath or repercussions. One of the age-old afflictions that many humans suffer is vision impairment. We constantly damage our eyesight and often don't even know it. While it's great to read and learn, it takes a terrible toll on our vision. You may have had 20/20 at one point in your life, but how is it now after staring point-blank at a computer screen for the past ten years? These common routines wreak havoc on our crucial senses. Fortunately we can remedy this fault with various solutions. You can visit the local optometrist and acquire a pair of glasses that will bring your vision up to par, or maybe you want to take a less noticeable route with contact lenses. Either is fine, but now days you do have a third option. Laser eye surgery can correct your vision perfectly, and once you're finished, there are no glasses or contacts involved. See more ...

Vanity, ah, my favorite sin. Okay, we all remember who said that, but what actually can be deemed vain? If our bodies and physical appearance change, or actually degrade over time, is it vain to want them back? Better yet, is it vain to do whatever it takes to get them back? Well, we all have limits, but many of us take advantage of modern technology when it comes to issues like these. Take hair for example. Most of us would like to keep our full head of hair, but some actually lose it right after high school. That stinks! Since we may feel somewhat inadequate without our snazzy dews, we might turn to a trichologist for answers. This is the beginning of our path back to a full head of hair, because hair loss treatment is more feasible today than ever before. See more ...
