Breast augmentation surgery has become a common procedure for plastic surgeons. The procedure has faced controversy and criticism, but a recent survey of women who have had breast augmentations performed shows that ninety-four percent would recommend the surgery to other women. Implants have become socially acceptable over the years and the process has become accessible to more women and it is safer than ever.

After a woman has decided to have augmentative surgery, she needs to do some research. One thing to consider is whether to have the implants placed above the pectoral muscle or below the muscle. Subglandular placement is between the pectoral muscle and the mammary glands. The subglandular placement is above the pectoral muscle.

The benefits of having subglandular implants include less recovery time and easier surgery. The implants do not enter the pectoral muscle and healing time is relatively quick. The muscle is not directly connected to the implant, so the implants are not affected when the pectoral muscle is flexed.

There are drawbacks to subglandular breast augmentation. Capsular contracture is more likely in subglandular breast implants than in implants that are set in the muscle. Capsular contracture is the hardening of scar tissue in the breasts due to surgery. The scar tissue may become inflamed. The implants may interfere with mammograms. The implant is only covered by skin and glands, so there is a good chance of rippling in the skin.

A woman can opt to have subpectoral placement in breast augmentation. This placement is partially beneath the muscle. The top of the implant is placed under the muscle and the bottom is not. This breast implant placement is also known as retropectoral. Benefits to subpectoral placements are that there is less chance of visible rippling of the skin and there is a lower risk of capsular contracture.

One common problem with subpectoral implants is that they are less likely to look natural. If the pectoral muscle is flexed, the implant may be contracted into an unnatural form. There still may be visible rippling at the bottom of the implant. Subpectoral implants also lack support and more surgery may be necessary to lift the breasts after a few years.

Another alternative placement is fully submuscular. Breast augmentation that involves fully submuscular implants involves the most invasive surgery. The benefits of this placement are the same as subpectoral placement. In addition, this placement has a very low risk of rippling in the skin and the implants do not interfere with mammograms.

The major drawback to submuscular implants is that the implants do move as the skin sags. This can create what is known as a “double bubble”. The woman may appear to have two large bumps under her sagging breasts and more surgery may be required to lift the sagging tissue.

Most plastic surgeons prefer subpectoral or fully submuscular placement when performing breast augmentation surgery. However, each patient is different and some may have physical characteristics that are best suited to subglandular placement.

Brain Injury:

My 21 year old cousin was a very talented painter and graphic artist. He had recently moved out west to pursue employment and enjoy his freedom. He quickly made friends, loved his work and enjoyed living within close range to the mountains.

Unfortunately, he was out mountain biking one day. He attempted a stunt which involved riding down a nearly vertical incline. He lost control of his bike and flew over the handlebars, smashing his head on a rock.

Although he was wearing a helmet, he still ended up in a coma for three months. When he finally woke up, he was a different person. He had suffered a moderate brain injury and would never be the same.

His personality changed drastically. He went from being a shy, sensitive and caring person, prior to the accident, to an obnoxious, angry and confrontational young man. His family was very supportive, but after several violent outbursts, his parents and sisters became afraid of him.

Today, thanks to medication, my cousin is no longer as given to these angry episodes. He has a modest apartment in a residence for disabled persons, not far from his family home. He works one hour a week in a local donut shop and has been reduced to a very limited functioning capacity. All due to his brain injury.

A couple of years after my cousin's accident, my own 23 year old sister was driving home from work. She was in her second year of teaching at a Montessori school - she had really found her calling. She was about five minutes from home, on the edge of town. An older man driving a one-ton truck, made a legal left turn just as she proceeded into an intersection on a green light. The vehicles collided and my sister was mashed inside of her crumpled car. Ambulance attendants had to use the Jaws of Life to get her out of the vehicle. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Along with a broken back, shattered arm and ankle, she also suffered a brain injury.

It's been two years since my sister's car accident. She will likely never be able to return to teaching. She spends most of her time in bed and is medicated to such an extreme degree that she's basically sleeping her life away.

Prior to the accident, my sister was a very kind, loving and compassionate person. We have noted extreme changes in her attitudes and behavior due to the brain injury. She has great difficulty being around children for any extended length of time. She becomes very anxious in social settings and has demonstrated self-destructive behavior on many occasions.

In addition, since the car accident, she has demonstrated strong signs of Bipolar Personality Disorder, triggered by the trauma and resulting brain injury. Her life will never be the same.

Both cases indicate the disastrous results of vehicle accidents and the ensuing tragedy of living with a brain injury. It's a sobering reminder to value our health and to never take for granted life as we know it.

Body acne can be found on the chest area, back and shoulder area, and even on the rear end in many cases. There is no known cause for acne in general and body acne is even more confusing. Some believe that it is a possible sign of more severe blemishes that are painful to the touch or are unusually large. However, most of us find body acne to be an annoyance rather than a painful experience.

The only pain I associate with body acne is the pain of embarrassment. One of my current concerns is having an outbreak of blemishes on my back and shoulders during the summer months. It is difficult enough to feel comfortable in a revealing summer outfit without worrying about pimples popping up all over. I hate to think that the months that I spent whipping myself into shape are undermined by body acne that makes me cover up.

There is good news, though. Body acne can be treated with a few simple steps and there are products to help address more difficult blemishes. The Clear Skin Regimen is a popular choice for individuals who have normal breakouts but some may want to follow certain steps that lead to clear skin all over.

The major ingredient in the treatment of body acne is benzoyl peroxide and this is great news to thrifty individuals like my self. One thing to remember when using peroxide is that it takes the color out of fabrics, so make sure to use caution when applying the peroxide to the area and make sure to keep fabrics away until the peroxide is completely dry.

Finding the cause of the breakouts would be very helpful, but no one really knows what actually causes pimples. There are a number of theories, but none have been proved beyond a doubt. Some body acne can be made worse by an irritant. Watch to see where you tend to break out and you may find that there is an external source for the pimples. Some fabrics can wreak havoc on the skin. Tight clothing can cause breakouts as well.

Another area to consider is the neck. The neck is special because the skin is more delicate than the skin on the back and the shoulders. Sometimes treating the skin too much can cause future breakouts. Even though acne on the neck may be considered body acne, it needs to be treated like acne on the face.

It used to be that just working out was enough. You would look better, feel fitter, and have higher levels of energy. Best of all, it would make you look more attractive to the ladies, and if you played sports, would give you the endurance you need to run ahead of the pack. But this just is not so any longer. Nowadays, if you don't take body building supplements, you almost might as well not be working out at all in some circles. Standards have changed, and now men need body building supplements to get to the massive sizes they desire, or to obtain the gargantuan muscle strength and speed demanded by professional sports.

The popularity of body building supplements is evident when you look at the number of steroid scandals. It seems that almost every day someone is busted for using steroids to get bigger and stronger. These are not safe body building supplements, but on the contrary can do damage to the body that is not warranted by the gains they provide. They can do heart damage, cause cancer, and perhaps worst of all, cause the infamous “roid rage” which can drive users to hurt friends and loved ones in sudden fits of anger.

For a while, it was thought that there was an easy solution. Many substances were thought to be safe and legal body building supplements, and were available on the market to increase muscle mass and performance. One of the most popular body building supplements was androstenetrione, otherwise known as andro. It was thought to increase muscle mass and performance safely by boosting testosterone production. It doesn't really do those things, however, and is now a scheduled steroid. In men it can cause shrinking of the testicles, the development of breasts, acne, and decreased sperm count. In women, it can cause masculine traits like male pattern baldness, or the development of a deep voice. Worst of all, this drug increases the risk of a stroke in those who use it.

Although body building supplements may seem like a good idea, I think there is no substitute for just good old honest exercise. There may be only so large your body is meant to get, and you should be happy with that, instead of striving to meet impossible expectations. A fit, trim, strong body is good enough for everyone, and we do not have to take dangerous body building supplements to look like the incredible hulk.

Electing to have cosmetic surgery is a major step that requires a great deal of thought and research on your part before moving forward with the procedure. One of the most important decisions in the entire process, but one which, surprisingly enough, is overlooked by many prospective patients, is choosing which doctor to entrust your body to. While there are of course many variables involved in doctor selection, including experience, bedside manner, location, and fees, there is also one overriding constant: you should always choose a board certified plastic surgeon.

What does it mean to say that someone is a board certified plastic surgeon? It means that the doctor in question currently meets and maintains a high level of professional, educational, and ethical standards as set forth by an independent sanctioning body. There are several different organizations that award certifications in cosmetic surgery, but not all of them measure the same criteria. So it's important for you to find out exactly what it takes for the organization to certify doctors. The most widely recognized organization is the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, also known as the ASPS. The ASPS requires their members to undergo extensive clinical training, to pass a rigid examination, and to become re-certified on a regular basis.

Although there are no guarantees as far as cosmetic surgery goes, choosing a board certified plastic surgeon could increase your chances of having a safe and successful experience. In addition to meeting stringent educational and training requirements, most board certified plastic surgeons have chosen to specialize in certain areas, such as facial procedures, breast augmentation, or reconstructive surgery. When a doctor specializes, he or she gains invaluable knowledge and insight, and will be able to address any concerns you may have prior to the operation. Furthermore, a specialist will likely have a better eye for what "looks good" than a doctor who engages in general practice.

The bottom line is that there are risks associated with all surgical procedures, including those of the cosmetic variety. You will no doubt have a lot of questions and feel a bit nervous before going in to get the work done. Knowing that you will be in the hands of a board certified plastic surgeon can help reduce your anxiety and give you some much-needed peace of mind. So do yourself a favor and choose only board certified plastic surgeons to help create your new look!

Blood Pressure Monitors

If you have been diagnosed with high blood pressure, or hypertension, it would be convenient for you to have your own blood pressure monitor at home. You can always go to Walgreens or SamÂ’s Club, or another pharmacies that have the sit down automatic blood pressure machines available to customers who want to check their own blood pressure. These are usually fairly accurate, but your blood pressure may be slightly elevated than it would be if you were checking it at home. Think about it, youÂ’re out shopping, driving around, dealing with traffic, trying to find things in the store, and then waiting patiently to check out (many times not). Your blood pressure is bound to be a little high, and yes, it is normal for it to fluctuate throughout the day. But stress has a significant effect on blood pressure, which is why you might be better having your own blood pressure monitor at home to check it at times when you are not influenced by the rat race going on in the world outside your home.

There are many different types of blood pressure monitors available for home use, and can be purchased in most pharmacies and online sites. Prices vary also, starting as low as $25 and keep going up to $300 and more, depending on the features of the unit, and whether it is electric, battery operated, or manual. Blood pressure monitors come in different styles that can test using the finger, wrist, or arm. Some of them inflate automatically and others must be pumped up manually with the attached bulb. Larger sized cuffs are also available if needed, and most if not all blood pressure monitors will tell the individual their pulse as well as blood pressure reading. To go just a bit further, some blood pressure monitors will also tell the user if an irregular heartbeat, if a low or high reading is detected, and will give you average of three readings. Most blood pressure monitors also come with a carrying case, batteries, and forms to record your readings. More expensive models have more features, more than one size cuff, extra bulbs, and just about extra everything.

All these bells and whistles are really not necessary, and just a basic unit from Walgreens for $35 will serve your purpose just fine. Most blood pressure monitors offer a warranty card you can send in, along with an address you can send it to if you have any problems. But if youÂ’re buying an inexpensive unit, it may just be worth it to just buy another unit, instead of taking all the time and trouble to send it in. Whatever you decide to do, a home blood pressure monitor could be a real life saver. After all, thatÂ’s why they call hypertension the silent killer.

A blood pressure monitor is a good thing to have on hand, especially if you know that you suffer from high blood pressure, or have a family history of heart disease. Because blood pressure is an excellent indication of how your heart is performing, and how much stress it might be under, your blood pressure is a vital piece of information in determining your overall health. Indeed, along with your heart rate, your blood pressure numbers are often referred to as your ‘vitals’. One of the first things most doctors or nurses will do when they see you in a treatment environment is to measure your vitals with a blood pressure monitor.

I worked at a residential drug and alcohol treatment center for over a year, and during my time there I became very familiar with the use of blood pressure monitors. The old school and more traditional blood pressure monitors that you usually see your doctor use are called sphygmomanometers. This is the typical cuff thing that they Velcro onto your arm, and then pump up by hand. It has a pressure gauge attached, and requires careful watching to accurately determine your blood pressure. These traditional blood pressure monitors are usually used in conjunction with a stethoscope to give a reading of your heart rate as well. That means taking vitals the old school way is a very active process and requires some amount of training.

Fortunately, there are newer and easier to use blood pressure monitors available today. Today you can purchase electronic sphygmomanometers that are programmed to basically do everything for you. All you need to learn how to do is properly attach the cuff to the subjectÂ’s arm, which is easier than tying your shoes. Then with the push of a button, the blood pressure machine does the rest. It even records your heart rate, and displays it along with your blood pressure in a little LCD display. All you have to do is wait for it to finish.

Needless to say, these automatic blood pressure monitors made my life a lot easier when I was working at the treatment center. Anyone that works in a medical environment that doesnÂ’t have the training nurses and doctors have gotten in the use of a regular sphygmomanometer will certainly appreciate having an automatic blood pressure monitor on hand.

Since my time at the treatment center, I have purchased my own electronic blood pressure monitor. ItÂ’s a nice tool to have on hand to accurately gauge any stress your heart may be under if you think you may be having heart trouble.

High blood pressure, or hypertension, is a serious problem for millions of people around the world. Because having a high blood pressure doesnÂ’t normally have noticeable symptoms until serious damage has been done, and since it is so common, it is for good reason a major concern for many people. Even though it is most common in people who are over 50 and/or are 10 or more pounds overweight, even young and slender people can have dangerously high blood pressure, and may need to be on blood pressure medication.

Fortunately, blood pressure is extremely easy to gauge and monitor. If you suffer from high blood pressure, youÂ’ll usually know just by seeing a doctor for a routine checkup. Most doctors will take your blood pressure as a first step during an office visit. Additionally, there are a number of electronic blood pressure monitors you can buy that are inexpensive and easy to use. If your blood pressure is consistently measuring 140/90 or higher, your doctor may want you to consider blood pressure medication.

Depending on how high your blood pressure is, how old you are, how much you weigh, and any history of heart disease you may have, your doctor will decide if the current blood pressure medications are right for you. They all have some adverse side effects, and like all medication should be used as a last resort after things like diet and exercise have been tried. Your doctor will also want you to quit smoking, limit alcohol intake, and avoid stimulants such as caffeine, ephedra, pseudophedrine, or diet pills. If you regularly use any of these drugs, they may be causing you to have high blood pressure.

If youÂ’ve tried everything and still have high blood pressure, your doctor will probably recommend a blood pressure medication. There are a lot of different blood pressure medications available today that work by a variety of mechanisms. For this reason, if you have especially high blood pressure, you may find a combination or two or more medications to be more effective.

The most important thing to keep in mind when taking blood pressure medication is that they need to be taken consistently, as instructed by your doctor. Missing a day or stopping suddenly can lead to dangerous spikes in your blood pressure.

Even though there are potential side effects for blood pressure medication, they are certainly better than the potential harm of having an excessive high blood pressure.

High blood pressure is a serious health concern for millions of people all over the world. It is the cause of numerous deaths each year and for people who live with it, itÂ’s a real concern they deal with on a daily basis.

The first step in treating high blood pressure is to consult with your physician. If the level of your blood pressure is elevated enough, your doctor will normally prescribe a prescription medication to treat it. However if you are experiencing mild high blood pressure that doesnÂ’t warrant traditional medicine you might want to consider taking high blood pressure herbs.

High blood pressure herbs are naturally found ingredients that have been proven to help lower blood pressure. Although they are not recommended for someone who suffers from very elevated blood pressure, they can help many people. If your blood pressure is slightly elevated than you might consider asking your health care professional about the benefits of high blood pressure herbs.

There are many combinations of high blood pressure herbs found in over the counter supplements. These can usually be purchased at a health food or natural food store. The staff at these establishments is generally well versed in how different supplements can benefit different conditions. When you visit one of these stores simply inquire about the blood pressure herbs they have available and the benefits and side effects of each one.

If the thought of taking a supplement to aid in lowering your blood pressure isnÂ’t appealing you might want to consider adding a new taste to your cooking. There are several high blood pressure herbs that can be added directly into your menu. In addition to the medicinal effects of these blood pressure herbs youÂ’ll also be spicing up your daily dishes.

Turmeric is one of the blood pressure herbs that many people already incorporate into their diet. Turmeric is common in curry dishes and you might have been already eating it on a regular basis without realizing that itÂ’s one of the blood pressure herbs.

Ginger is another example of one of the blood pressure herbs that people often eat. Ginger adds a delicate spiciness to many foods including salad dressings and pumpkin pies. Adding ginger to your diet can directly impact the level of your high blood pressure.

Adding high blood pressure herbs to your diet can be relatively simple. Either purchase a supplement or enrich your menu with foods that work at keeping you healthy.

A woman who is pregnant can prepare for going through labor in many ways. The best thing she can do for herself is to get educated on what to expect when labor starts. There are many ways a woman can learn about what to expect. There are a multitude of books and websites dedicated to pregnancy and parenting. The library, a bookstore, or a search engine are all good places to start. Many hospitals offer free or very inexpensive classes on various birth philosophies and breastfeeding techniques. It is a good idea to learn all one can before the time comes, to help relax and understand what is happening to the body when labor sets in. It is also a good idea for the birth partner to attend these classes, so he or she can learn how to be the best support to the mother-to-be.

There are many birth philosophies that a woman can learn about. One is called Lamaze. This is a breathing technique that helps a woman focus on breathing through the pain of labor contractions, and attaining a meditative state by doing so, in order to cope with the contractions as they become intense. It is very popular. The birth partner helps by being a coach during labor. This method may be used instead of pain medications, for those interested in a medicine-free birth, or in conjunction with any one of the available pain-reducing drugs during labor.

Another birth method is called the Bradley Method. This method involves using positions and relaxation techniques to help the body have productive contractions, and help the woman to cope with the pain. Relaxation is commonly understood as an effective way to manage the pain of labor. The Bradley method teaches ways for the birth partner to serve as a coach and help the woman relax through each contraction and allow it to help the labor progress. This method is most commonly used by women who wish to have a medication-free birth, but may also be used by women who want to get as far into labor as possible before trying any pain medication.

Besides birth methods, there are also professionals who are available to help women and their partners with the process of labor. These professional labor coaches are called doulas. A doula is not a nurse or midwife, but rather a person who is trained in supporting a woman through labor, and helping her partner to support her too. Husbands often feel helpless when their wives are in labor, as they watch her going through pain, they don't know how to help. A doula can help support both partners by understanding the woman's experience, and knowing effective ways to help.

Women today have many options when it comes to birth, and have the opportunity to educate themselves in many ways so they are as prepared as possible to have a positive birth experience, with few complications.

When something as awful as a birth injury happens to cross paths with you, it is important to know that a birth injury lawyer is just a phone call away. No one can possibly know the trauma and heartache a person must be feeling when dealing with an issue like this, and so information in regard to birth injury lawyers is not easy to find in many cases.

You should know as someone going through this that you donÂ’t have to do it yourself. By contacting a birth injury lawyer you can get valuable information to help you along the path you are desperately struggling to get through. A birth injury lawyer can also be someone of support and empathy during these hard times, but for the most part they will help to seek justice where justice is due. A birth injury lawyer can make sure a birth injury lawsuit is done properly and with as much care as possible.

It is important to keep in mind that not all birth injuries are due to negligence. It is hard to keep this in perspective when you are a person suffering the outcome of a birth injury. A birth injury lawyer works with qualified medical professionals to help in discovering what happened, how it happened, and why it happened.

If it turns out that the birth injury is due to malpractice or negligence, the birth injury lawyer will help you to get compensated fairly. If findings of an investigation lead to evidence that the birth injury was not caused by malpractice or negligence, at least you will have the peace of mind knowing there was nothing anyone could have done to make the outcome different than it is.

When choosing your attorney, make sure you choose a qualified professional that specializes in the field. A lawyer who deals with auto accidents will not be able to help you to the degree that you need the help most. Your family lawyer probably will not be able to offer specific help in this matter either, but they may be able to refer you to a birth injury lawyer that can. Referrals are your best bet if you can find one; because it means that the person you are referred to is known as doing extremely well in their field of work. What this means to you is the highest fighting chance you can have when it comes to an issue as delicate as this one.

Many women are discovering the advantages of choosing the birth control patch as their method of contraception.

The birth control patch is a thin square patch that is adhered to the skin, much like a band-aid. ItÂ’s left on for an entire week at which time the patch is replaced with a new one. When it is time to replace the birth control patch itÂ’s placed in a different spot than the previous one. This is done for a period of three weeks. On the fourth week no patch is applied to the skin and the woman has her period.

Just as birth control pills contain hormones, the birth control patch does as well. The hormones are absorbed through the skinÂ’s surface and into the blood stream. The purpose of the hormones is to regulate the reproductive system so that ovulation doesnÂ’t occur.

Some women are a bit wary about trying the birth control patch because they are concerned that it might come off while they are bathing or swimming. The patch is actually designed to be worn full-time even during activities where the body is wet or exerted.

If the patch does happen to fall off itÂ’s really important to refer to the literature that came with it. In it will be suggestions about what to do and also it will strongly suggest that another form of birth control be practiced in the interim.

The birth control patch is not a method of treating or preventing sexually transmitted diseases. Its sole purpose is to reduce the risk of pregnancy. Therefore itÂ’s still advisable for a couple to use a condom to prevent the spread of any illness.

Most forms of contraception that involve the use of hormones have side effects. The same is true with the birth control patch. Some of the side effects can include weight gain, spotting in between periods, headaches and nausea. Other side effects that have been attributed to the use of the birth control patch are difficulty wearing contact lenses and a small rash where the patch was applied. In any case of side effects if they become severe itÂ’s important to check with your physician.

Although the birth control patch isnÂ’t right for every woman it is an effective and safe form of contraception.
The birth control patch is quickly becoming a popular birth control option these days. Out of all the different hormone based birth control options, the birth control patch offers a good combination of convenience and ease of use. There is no injection involved, nothing to insert anywhere in your body, and no pill to have to remember taking everyday. For these reasons, a lot of women are turning to the birth control patch.

The birth control patch works in exactly the same way as other hormone based birth control methods, such as the pill. The patch contains low amounts of the hormones estrogen and progesterone in a form that are able to permeate your skin at a slow and predictable rate. This patch concept has been in use for some years already, made popular with nicotine replacement and pain management therapies.

By using the birth control patch, you are introducing the hormones into your body at a slow and constant rate, as opposed to the pill which operates a bit like a roller coaster ride. For this reason, the birth control patch is slightly less notorious for the side effects that the pill is known for. This isnÂ’t to say that the birth control patch doesnÂ’t have side effects; indeed it suffers from the same drawbacks as the pill, but the side effects are for many people more mild and less noticeable.

Most birth control patches available only have to be replaced once a week. Having to put on a patch once a week instead of taking a pill everyday is the main reason women turn to the patch. They are usually fairly small, and can be placed on a number of different areas of your body. They are waterproof, and are designed to stay on until you forcibly remove them.

Like all other forms of hormone based birth control, using the birth control patch does increase your risk of heart related problems. It does so typically by boosting your blood pressure, so if you are otherwise perfectly healthy an elevated blood pressure wonÂ’t have any adverse effects on you. However, if you already suffer from a high blood pressure, any heart related disorders, or are a smoker, use of the birth control patch could be risky. The birth control patch is not more risky than taking the pill, getting injections, or using any other hormone based method. If you are interested in trying the birth control patch, you should talk to your doctor.

At some time in a young adultÂ’s life, he/she will decide to become sexually active. Many thoughts will run through oneÂ’s mind once this time in their life has been reached. Whether or not having sex with this person is something they are really ready for and if the other person really likes them. There are sexually transmitted diseases that can be caught and an emotions that will come into play that perhaps have never been felt before. Though there are many responsibilities that come along with the choice of being sexually active, perhaps the one concern on most individualÂ’s minds is preventing pregnancy.

In this day and age there are many birth control options. As soon as we first step into health class in our junior high school, these birth control options are placed in front of us so that we each can make the most well informed decision possible.

For some, remaining abstinent, or, refraining from sexual intercourse until marriage may be the right choice. If this is the case, birth control options may not be necessary as the individuals involved may very well be ready for a child. However, for others, abstinence is not the right decision, and still a baby is not yet desired. For these persons, there are other birth control options to be considered.

Perhaps the most common birth control option is the condom. Condoms are readily available, and require no parental consent to purchase and/or receive. They can be bought by anyone, at any grocery and convenience store, in any town and at any time. Condoms are inexpensive, and relatively easy to use. If used properly, condoms have a relatively high success rate of preventing pregnancies.

Another birth control option is a choice that the woman can opt for, and is a decision that she alone needs to make. Birth control pills are hormonal drugs that prevent pregnancy. When taken properly, birth control pills have an extremely high success rate. There are varying levels of hormones, and it is necessary to consult with a physician in order to determine which level is right for each individual. Birth control pills need to be taken each and every night, regardless of whether sexual activity will occur that evening, in order to insure that an egg will not implant itself.

Other birth control options include the IUD, a minor implant that is set with in the woman, and designed to deter an egg from setting itself into the lining of the uterus, and spermacides, that kill the live sperm. Female condoms, sponges, and diaphragms, though not as common, all have varying levels of effectiveness in preventing pregnancy.

Today, in the 21st century of medicine and science, there are a lot of different birth control options. Unfortunately for women, the most modern and effective birth control options are almost all targeted towards females. Of course, there are plenty of older methods that are aimed at men as well.

The oldest and most tried and tested birth control option is by way of using contraceptive devices. The most popular of these is still the condom. Condoms are a very simple concept that has been in use in one form or other since the time of the ancient Egyptians. There are also diaphragms, female condoms, and spermicidal foams that are sometimes used as well. The problem with contraceptive devices is that they all have a relatively high rate of failure, and are prone to misuse. If not used correctly, the rate of failure increases dramatically.
In the new millennium, birth control options are certainly more prevalent than ever. From condoms to spermicides, to the pill, we are pretty much covered when it comes to pregnancy prevention. In this sexually active world we all share, good birth control is a must since many of us are not looking to produce offspring.

For women, a common method of birth control is the pill. While the pill does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases, it does offer close to 100% protection against pregnancy. A second birth control available for women is the female condom, which is effective, but not as commonly used as the pill. An advantage to the female condom is that it does protect against STDs.

Birth control options for males, other than a vasectomy, basically consist of the condom. The condom is certainly one of the most popular forms of birth control worldwide. Condoms are nearly 100% effective against pregnancy and STDs. Not to mention the enormous variety of condoms out there. These birth control aids come in a spectrum of colors, textures, and sizes.

Other options available for couples are the diaphragm and the IUD. The diaphragm is quite effective and is used by the woman. However, it does not offer full protection from STD's. As for an IUD, intrauterine device, these are inserted in a woman to prevent pregnancy, but not STDs. Typically this form of birth control is most effective in women who are over thirty years of age.

Finally, there are other options such as Norplant, which consists of capsules that are inserted in the woman's arm to prevent pregnancy. This method of birth control is not so widely used.

Whether you're looking for a birth control or a prevention of STD's and pregnancy, you will definitely find a vast variety of options online. The Internet is an outstanding source for doing research on birth control options and the prevention of STD's. You must always consider what you're protecting yourself from. Pregnancy seems to be the least of our worries in this day and age. With a countless number of STD's in circulation, you must take necessary precautions before engaging in sexual activity of any kind.

Overall, the male condom is used more commonly than most forms of birth control. This is simply due to its availability, which is in any drug or grocery store for the most part, but also for its simplicity and known protection from STD's.

Ever since we discovered that my wife was pregnant, life itself changed drastically for both of us. We were no longer the misty eyed, loving couple we had once been. Almost overnight, as soon as the pregnancy test turned positive, we morphed into what I can only describe as a pair of paranoid, over concerned would be parents. But the changes were more than mind deep. They went deep down into our souls and schedules. And nothing could have impacted our lives than the discovery of the birth chart.

My wife, in her constant trawl on the web for baby resources, had come across a birth chart. Simply put, this birth chart is nothing but an excel file that tracks the progress of the pregnancy month on month and keeps us updated on the changes that she would be undergoing. Notice that I say she, but what I actually mean is we. After all, being directly responsible for the pregnancy in the first place, I could not hope to escape the havoc that the birth chart would wreck now, could I?

Anyways, to get back to the birth chart, it soon became an integral part of our lives. My wife had printed out the whole thing and it ran into 40 pages of color coded blocks of text, indicating the various stages of her pregnancy. While I was initially enamored by the birth chart, as the pregnancy progressed, my wife began looking at it as some sort of bible that would tell her how to live her life.

The first area where the birth chart had an impact on our lives was naturally on our diets. Suddenly, some of my best loved foods were banished from not just the kitchen, but the household as well. When I tried to question her, she gave me that ‘ I know what is best for me and our baby’ look and effectively silenced me. The second area that was soon invaded and conquered was the waking and sleeping moments. Rather than wait for the baby to be born in order to adjust our sleep cycles, my wife mapped out the predictions and comments in the birth chart to regulate our sleeping moments. Which is why I would suddenly find myself rudely being shaken out of my beauty sleep in order to feel the baby move at all odd times of the day and night.

But I drew the line when the birth chart was used to regulate my dressing as well. I mean how did it matter what I wore as the baby could never see me of hope to be influenced by it. If I had a nagging suspicion before that my wife was using the birth chart to gain control over my life, it was now confirmed. And so, out went the birth chart and in came normality.

Would you say that you're healthy? This is a prominent question and concern these days. What we consume and how often we exercise has a great affect on our health. How's your diet looking lately? Are you resorting to drive-thrus on every lunch break? Do you remember to eat your vegetables and avoid high fatty foods? If your answer is no, then you may want to re-evaluate your current eating habits. Those glory days of being a teenager and gorging on whatever junk food you can get your hands on, tend to slip away rather quickly. It's time to think health, people! There are loads of nutritional foods and drinks at your disposal now days. You need to improve your diet and find the best supplements available.

Do you know where to look for the best supplements and organic foods? This can be a trick, I know. One thing I always notice about organic foods is the price. And yikes, what a price! Can you afford this stuff? Sometimes I have a little trouble budgeting it in. Although I find most nutritional food and some of the best supplements rather expensive, I still factor them into my daily diet. It's important to know why these products are pricey. While so many of the junk foods and fast foods have enormous tax write-offs with there businesses, most of the organic farmers do not. They are the ones struggling to make a buck. We all know that the make-many make-large companies such as McDonalds are raking in the dough. This is where the price difference stems from.

You can find some of the best supplements to enhance your diet, online. The World-Wide-Web is a great place to turn for health food supplements and vitamins. Check out the numerous web stores in order to see all that's available these days. It's awesome how they all compete for our business, hence guaranteeing us the lowest prices. It just takes a little surfing. If the Internet is not exactly your thing, you can also shop for the best supplements at your local nutrition store. There's probably a GNC in your mall. Even grocery stores carry a wide variety of the best supplements now days. It's time to improve your health by enhancing your diet. Eat healthy and always remember to take those daily vitamins.

Taking care of our looks can be a redundant and tedious routine. Who wants to spend an hour every morning grooming themselves? Well, believe it or not, many people do this. After living with a teenage girl for the past few years, I have seen it first hand. Hopefully once we pass those awkward years, grooming becomes less difficult. Our first goal is to find the best skin care and cosmetics out there. We want the good stuff that really works, but doesn't make us late for work. We all know how hectic the world can be. We certainly don't have much time to spare. Fortunately some of the best skin care products out there today will help keep this daily grooming routine brief.

As a man, I don't like to spend a lot of time getting ready each day. 20 minutes should be sufficient. After all, what do guys actually do? We shave, get dressed, and comb our hair if we have any. This is typical. However, my wife likes me to look nice. This is why I did a little searching for the best skin care products for men. I was basically looking for a good moisturizer/aftershave with SPF to defend against the sun. Since my wife also likes me to smell good, a nice cologne never hurts. You can certainly head out to any local mall or shopping center in search of the best skin care products, but you don't have to. One thing I've noticed about cosmetic girls is that they don't seem to care so much about your skin as they do about making a buck. This is rather irksome. You may find it more beneficial to look online for the best skin care treatments available. The World-Wide-Web is the only place I have ever found such a vast array of reviews on any products. You can actually find out what other men and women think about particular cosmetics before purchasing them.

Whether you're a man or a woman, or even a teen in search of the best skin care system available, you will surely find something in cyberspace. The notion of the best skin care treatment is really relative to the person, their skin type, and what they're trying to achieve. A woman in her forties attempting to minimize lines around her eyes will not want the same product as a teen who suffers from severe acne. If you're looking for that best skin care product, but don't know where to start, jump online and establish your skin type. This will help you sort through the deluge of cosmetics, and finally locate the best skin care system for you.

Aloe Vera is one of those trendy little herbal treatments that is really popular these days. IÂ’ve been using lotions and creams containing aloe vera to treat sun burns and minor scrapes, and also just to moisturize dry skin. As it has become increasingly popular for use internally, IÂ’ve begun to wonder about the beneifits of aloe vera juice as a drink.

So what are the benefits of aloe vera juice inside the body? Doing a quick search through various sites online youÂ’ll discover that the benefits of aloe vera juice range from a boosted immune system, avoiding cancer, longer life span, more youthful complexions, and a host of other rather extreme claims. If you look a little further you may discover some more reputable sites with more reasonable discussions on the benefits of aloe vera juice.

Unfortunately, it appears that there havenÂ’t been a lot of reasonable scientific studies done on the benefits of aloe vera juice. The only clear proven beneficial use to date is as a laxative because it is a rather harsh purgative, though it is rarely marketed as such. Some studies have indicated that it can actually increase risk for cancer if used regularly as a laxative. It is unclear what other side effects aloe vera juice may have, and is therefore not a good idea for use in pregnant women.

So even though the benefits of aloe vera juice are exalted by hosts of different sites around the internet, you’ll quickly notice that its always the ones that are trying to sell you something that make these claims. One of my favorite claims that I came across was one that said something like ‘because aloe vera juice is 100 percent natural, it is completely safe and you can drink as much as you like’. That may be one of the most absurd things I’ve ever read online to date. The most deadly and toxic substances known today are completely natural. This is especially funny (in a bad way) because one health site I visited suggested that excessive aloe vera juice can induce nausea and vomiting, so clearly its probably not safe to drink lots of it.

In my opinion, the benefits of aloe vera juice donÂ’t weigh up to the possible side effects and potential risks. There are plenty of other proven safe and milder laxatives out there, and plenty of other ways to take good care of your body without ingesting something that hasnÂ’t been studied very well.

Our faces are the first thing people notice when meeting us, or even seeing us for that matter. This is why many of us want the best skin care. The question is, what is the best and how much does it cost? As you've probably noticed, there are no shortages when it comes to skin care products. While many will swear up and down that they're the best, this isn't necessarily true. The best skin care varies with the individual.

Since we all have different skin types, we have to find out what type of products are suited for us as individuals. From oily skin, to dry skin, to combination skin, to normal skin, there is much to sort through. Some unfortunate individuals even have sensitive skin. This means that many cosmetics can and will irritate their face. What a pain! After you distinguish your skin type, it is good to do some browsing. Whether you hit the department stores for the upper-end products from Channel, or the drugstore for a more reasonably priced selection, you may want to check online to save some time.

The Internet is infused with products for the best skin care. The highlight is typically the price since the Internet has the ability to offer products at cheaper, more desirable prices. For example, if you are afflicted with acne, you may want to specify your search for acne treatments. This way you can get the rundown of what's available and for what price. Testimonials are a plus to searching online. You can find responses from others who have tried the products and whether or not they liked them. You can't exactly do that in a department store. To locate the best skin care, it is good to try samples as well. Many companies offer samples to intrigue you or possibly starter kits, which are commonly fully refundable if you're not satisfied.

Bad skin can be a great shot to the self-esteem if not taken care of. Luckily there is something for virtually everyone on the markets these days. Locating the best skin care can take time and a number of trial and error routines. It may be beneficial to consult a dermatologist if you suffer from a severe skin condition. This way you may find faster results in a prescription or possibly simple advice that you weren't aware of. Whether we admit it or not, the majority of us want to look nice. Fortunately, with the products available today, we have that option.

IÂ’ve always been a pragmatic sort of chap. I mean, when I was younger, I had severe asthma. I couldnÂ’t run around or even play around like the other kids. But it didnÂ’t bother me much. I amused myself by becoming an introvert and by reading books. Of course it meant that I didnÂ’t have many friends, but then hey! I built up knowledge while managing to stay positive. In my teens, I was known as pimple king. With a hideous visage, filled with acne, black heads and white heads of all sizes and shapes, people (not just girls!) avoided me like the plague. Although I tried all sorts of cures, nothing really worked. So I bided my time and tried to be as normal as possible till my acne went right away.

But it was in my twenties that I ran into the problem that almost destroyed my life. When the first sign of baldness came about, I couldnÂ’t believe my eyes. I mean, nobody in my family was bald, and no matter how many other problems I had; baldness was nowhere even on the horizon of my hypochondria. So to wake up one day and realize that when I wasnÂ’t looking, my hairline had receded by a bit, and that baldness was imminent, was not a pleasant thought. And it was no use knowing that if there was any human condition that I was absolutely mortified of, it was baldness.

Having resolved to hide the ugly truth from all m friends, I went to university, the coffee shop, the internet centre and even the gym with a perky cap covering my head. Most of my friends were initially curious. Soon they became perturbed by my bizarre behavior. And when they ganged up to confront me I shamefacedly told them the truth about my baldness. Their first reaction was one of mirth. But soon, they had calmed down sufficiently to try and help me out of my misery. Some of my older and wiser friends shared their own experiences with baldness. One of them in fact took the trouble to take me through all the baldness cures he had personally tried and why each of them didnÂ’t work. Another friend told me in no uncertain terms that if baldness had decided to set in, there was nothing I could do to prevent it. I just had to grin and live with baldness for the rest of my life.

But overall, I was able to get some information about baldness, how to deal with it and what baldness remedies I might try out to get the best results. For instance, I found that Minoxidil, a solution that was to be applied to bald spots was the solution most preferred by balding adults. Nearly two out of three people who had used this baldness treatment, had seen positive results. The other treatment was Finasteride – an oral baldness treatment that I could try. Finasteride seemed to enjoy a higher success rate among people with baldness. But it was not as popular as Minoxidil as it was reputed to cause some side effects which affected sexual performance. Tough choice eh? Lose your hair or lose your drive.
